It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of Clickbank. I reckon Clickbank is the single greatest way to make money online. But marketing Clickbank can be a daunting task, so the goal of my articles is to provide advice to help you with your efforts.

First, no matter what, you need the skill to find quality Clickbank products. Without proven sellers there is no sense dumping money or effort into marketing. You can use the Clickbank Marketplace to find products, but better than that I recommend a third-party search analysis tool. A third-party tool will give you access to sale’s description, gravity, refund rates and help you better track product sales week by week.

Okay, so for this article, let’s say you’ve found a product, it converts, you’re doing all the standard forms of internet marketing, cost-per-click, impression advertising, eBook marketing, newsletter marketing, forum posting, video marketing, etc. etc.

But you need to find another revenue stream.

How about OFFLINE advertising? No doubt some of you don’t even know what that means any longer. I know offline doesn’t register much weight with me, but with the rise of online advertising, offline is getting cheaper and cheaper. Why not build a stand-alone website for the product you’re promoting and buy newspaper classified advertising.. .? Newspapers are getting killed by sites like Ebay and Craig’s List. They’re practically charitable away classified advertising. If that facility, why not try a radio advertising campaign? Did you know you can buy radio, newspaper and television advertising through Google? Maybe you just experiment with your local market and see how it goes before you a expand to a regional or national campaign. No matter what, make sure your marketing sizzles… and if you need help making your media, not to worry. A simple Google search will provide you with a plethora of low-cost services that will help you make your radio, TV or print ad.

In no way do I reckon the new marketer should try this. This is for the expert only who has a budget to work with. If you’re just getting started, work your way up to experimenting with offline advertising. But you rarely see Clickbank marketers going offline and that’s not because it doesn’t work, it’s because they have an online-only mindset, but I can guarantee there is major potential in this medium if you explore it.

If there is any skill that is indispensable to the web marketer it is copywriting. Regardless of how much traffic you can bring to your site, if the words on the page do not convince your prospects to buy your product, or sign up for your mailing list, it all means not anything.

Next, make your landing page somewhere on your site, and write your sales letter. If you really want to get creative, write two versions of your sales letter and use your tracking software to conduct an A/B split-test between the two.

In order to test the effectiveness of your letter, you’ll need to send people frankly to ClickBank’s buy page. Although it isn’t advertised, ClickBank has provided a way for you to do this. Your buy page link will look like this:

Where the item is the item number of the product that you are promoting. Find this number by clicking on the vendor’s buy link, landing on the ClickBank buy page and viewing the source code in your browser. You are looking for a line that says:
(input type=hidden name=item value=”item#”) where item# is a number.

So, to recap, you’ve got the Item number, your affiliate ID, and the vendor ID (if you don’t know the vendor id, go back the the source code above and look two lines up from the item number for the vendor ID). Now place them all together to make the buy link above.

There is a caveat here you must be aware of; this method does not embed your affiliate commission, so if the buy is not made right there, you will not get the credit.

Track the number of visitors to your sales page, and the number of sales that you get credit for. In this manner, you’ll be able to judge the effectiveness of your copywriting skills.
